HIV/AIDS Prevention

The HIV and AIDS epidemic has reached startling proportion among the one billion people of India. People living with HIV and AIDS are socially ostracized and abandoned by their families in most situations. Further more they lose their jobs, they have no property, they have no money for survival and they are not treated as people who have value worth and dignity. In this situation whom do they turn to?

So to improve the knowledge level on STD/HIV/AIDS to the backward and vulnerable groups of the community. To facilitate easy access to STD Care follow up. To provide training and awareness programmers for the Commercial Sex workers, Truck drivers, migrant Labor community etc. Arunodaya trust giving them a helping hand.

Arunodaya trust develops support system in sustaining behavioral change towards sexual health of sex workers. To educate adolescent boys and girls, college students on sex and sexuality. To facilitate easy access to condoms, and encouraging consistent usage.

 
Lead for HIV / AIDS Initiative

In partnership with Nereekshana Hyderabad Foundation Arunodaya trust has implemented a project focusing on Reproductive Mother and Child Health care in Hyderabad Slums.
During this project implementation Arunodaya trust has come across alarming number of STD’s and HIV infected persons.

This has led Arunodaya trust to initiate a random study in the state and pinned our initiatives in Rangareddy, Guntur and West Godavari Districts since mid of 2006.

Presently our services are focused among sex workers of Hyderabad City, Guntur, Tanuku, Achanta, Palakollu, Bheemavaram were we extending STD Treatments, Condom Promotion ( Free & Social Condom Marketing )
and promotion of safe Sex Practices.

Arunodaya networks with like minded NGO’s at the Star and National level. Linkages, convergence and advocacy has been one of the ongoing areas with the Government officials, and with the civil society for effective local Government and peoples based policy.

In terms future, A great challenge lies ahead and need to develop integrated and holistic approaches for the vulnerable as well as those marginalized because of HIV / AIDS. Arunodaya call up on people of GOD to respond with the love and affection in non-judgmental and practical ways.

 
We conducted Awareness programmes on preventive methods of various diseases including
HIV/AIDS with the help of the Village Elders and Women Groups through charts, street
plays, awareness songs, video shows etc...
 

Medical camps
Poverty persists in communities where problems are only identified but never addressed. Mission of Mercy's goal is to equip children to be lifelong learners who communicate and act with boldness. The capacity to integrate knowledge and skill while making positive choices empowers a future generation to change their destiny.

Physical Development
As children grow they learn to become participants in their world Navigating life's struggles and influences requires access to proper nutrition, health services and skill building. We believe this integrated approach will enable children to value themselves as well as a safe and healthy lifestyle throughout their life.
